Portfolio : Application Hosting

For approximately seven years, I setup and ran an application hosting company based around Java and Oracle.

For the first few years I acted as Oracle DBA, customer support, sales and product development - which taught me a great deal about how to talk to customers, handle security and time management.

I originally setup the hosting services as a platform for some of my own projects. At that time you could not get a Java based host, let alone a hosting company to provide a real Oracle database/ environment. This combination proved to be highly successful and the business was sold in 2001.

The USP of the hosting service has almost been totally absorbed into the purchasing company CWCS, but I feel the services we provided helped make a great difference in hosting offerings from all companies by raising the bar from simple "Front Page" hosts.
